The Pen Characterization Technician is responsible for working in conjunction with their supervisor and client engineers. They will oversee testing within the Pen Characterization test area. The right candidate will have a history of strong leadership, an aptitude for analytical thinking, and experience in testing schedules and part tracking. Candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, a focus on quality, and be able to work with limited supervision.
What You Will Do
- Candidate must be, operate in place of the supervisor in their absence.
- Understand the R&D environment, while being able to anticipate future obstacles
- Provide test set up and support
- Able to network and develop rapid response paths for critical issue resolution.
- Able to multi-task in a rapidly changing environment.
- Work closely with Supervisors and Engineers on ideas to improve processing procedures.
- Able to communicate clearly with teams, operations management, and engineers to ensure timely delivery on agreed upon and realistic client schedules.
- Possess Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Able to communicate with engineers, supervisors, co-workers.
- Provide ideas and corrective actions for ongoing testing issues.
- Identify and troubleshoot processes, materials, or equipment related issues. Recommend solutions to Supervisors and Engineering.
- Able to conduct failure analysis of defective parts to determine root cause.
- Maintain processes as documented and update documentation as needed.
- Able to create and maintain training process documentation, print area training.
- Intermediate skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
- Provide reports and status updates to engineering customers andLB management.
- Drive Lean principles and improvements.
- Inspect and maintain procedures that will contribute to the improvement of the entire process.
- Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.
- Perform all additional duties as required by the Project Manager and Supervisor.
- Detail oriented.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
To Be Successful You Will Have
- A high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) or equivalency.
- A team-oriented attitude with a strong desire to learn.
- The ability to focus and multi-task in a rapidly changing environment.
- An eagerness to work with the organization to support experimental and new product development.
- Effective written/verbal communication
- A desire to work in a team environment as well as operate independently.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, OneNote, MS Outlook Exchange etc.).
- Working conditions can include:
- Must be able to sit and use computer and phone for extended time periods
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Repetitive hand tasks required with regular breaks
- Ability to interact with various persons professionally and positively
- Technical experience and analytical skills. in R&D, product test development or manufacturing environments. Preferred, but not necessary.

- Expected compensation- $17 to $18 per hour.
