Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician will be responsible for working in conjunction with R&D Engineering to develop testing methodologies and some prototyping. The right match for this job will have a strong analytical aptitude, have proven experience in testing, be comfortable working printers and related equipment, proficient with hand tools, have a strong attention to detail with a quality mind-set, be a pro-active and a self-starter, that has flexibility with scheduled hours.
What you will do
- General lab duties to facilitate testing of parts which may include: Ink, adhesive, structural part testing. Possible writing system reliability testing.
- Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to Engineering.
- Assist the engineers with revisions and improvements to testing methodology, including writing change orders and deviations.
- Complete and document testing observations and results. Write test summaries as testing is completed.
- Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets to ensure conformance and quality of in-process parts.
- Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming product to determine root cause.
- Assist the engineer to install and validate new equipment and processes following the established validation procedure
- Work collaboratively and communicate clearly with operations management and engineers to ensure timely delivery on agreed, realistic client schedules
To be successful you must have
- Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.
- Follow Operations supervisor/manager and engineer's direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers.
- Basic understanding and ability to read prints and schematics
- Ability to use and understand general test/measurement equipment including calipers, height gauges, etc.
- Background in practical mechanics and troubleshooting
- Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication
- Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- JMP experience is a plus
- Experience in a regulated work environment such as ISO is a plus.
