Aim: Direct the activities of a software quality assurance function across multiple accounts and geographies. Develop quality standards for products and oversees the development and execution of software test plans and analysis of test results. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Build and develop long term relationships with Clients.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a game related major (e.g. Programming, design) or Computer Science/ Computer engineering or commensurate experience is preferred but not required
  • Min 5 years' experience leading testing of multiple games, released across diverse platforms
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Experience with automation frameworks, tools and scripting.
  • Expert knowledge of test case design, technical design and implementation, test quality and validation, experience in product lifecycle management and shipping products.
  • Experience building ROI and cost justifications for executive level presentation.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Readiness to travel worldwide and maintain flexible schedule adjusted to current needs of the program/company.


Responsibilities:
  • Test Case Design:
    • Oversee documentation efforts required to plan testing and assure product quality.
    • Understands the customer and how the testing strategy will fulfil customer vision and aligns his or her teams' efforts to successfully achieve the vision and strategy.
    • Sets the standard for QA strategy development. Proposes processes to further the success of the department.
    • Ensures that resources and capabilities are consistent with the company-wide vision, and that business metrics are embodied.
    • Applies strategic understanding of the timing and rationale for development choices.
    • Maintains knowledge of leading-edge QA processes, both internally and externally. Pushes these processes to their limit for the best result.
    • Draws on his or her experience with multiple game releases to allow only that which satisfies and delights the customer into the game.


  • Technical Design and Implementation:
    • Focus on high level issue/implementation resolutions within all areas that intersect QA.
    • Uses a company-wide perspective and understanding to ensure that teams deliver the expected test design.
    • Designs lasting, innovative test architecture.
    • Applies his or her deep technical expertise to solve problems and enable the team to deliver quality test designs.
    • Leads efforts to validate test architectural innovations and identifies critical areas that need improvement.
    • Defines quality metrics and best practices and provides deep expertise on the test strategy.
    • Resolves the most difficult problems in the test infrastructure.


  • Quality and Validation:
    • Proactively identifies and validates areas of risk in the most complex areas of games and validates compatibility between sub-systems and dependent systems.
    • Designs telemetry and analytics and influences new types of data collection and instrumentation to find high-impact defects.
    • Knows which data is needed, and how to find new or missing data. Connects disparate or ambiguous data, and makes concise, impactful presentations that fully describe defects, their impact to the game and customer scenarios, and their relevance to quality targets.
    • Uses customer knowledge to guide integration testing, across Lionbridge.
    • Uses technical knowledge of the game design to identify areas of risk and prevent bugs.


  • Product Lifecycle:
    • Owns QA group high-level schedule and workflow as it connects to overall game development.
    • Leads key processes such as team and triage meetings, prioritizes work across teams, and rebalances priorities to respond to changes.
    • Removes barriers to the teams' agility to enable them to shift priorities quickly without losing productivity.
    • Promotes a team culture of quality and ensures that the teams' standards are consistent with the overall objectives and makes difficult decisions to meet shipping goals.
    • Ensures that teams, across the organization, have the appropriate lifecycle components that have elements such as test targeting, , sign-off, and performance standards to meet customer and business goals.
    • Drives new ways of thinking, across product lines, to improve quality, productivity, and responsiveness to feedback and changing priorities.


  • Effective Team:
    • Structures the group in a way that is best suited to product line needs and maximizes efficiency.
    • Delegates work across his or her teams to build capability breadth and depth.
    • Finds opportunities for collaboration across product lines, sets cross-team commitments, and achieves scale in his or her work efforts by enabling the work of others.
    • Tailors communication to a variety of audiences and perspectives and anticipates issues to prevent conflict.

    • Mentors leadership team members.
    • Holds regular 1:1 discussion with team members.
    • Evaluates and provides constructive feedback to team members.


  • Product and Service Ownership:
    • Has a sense of pride and personal accountability for the end-to-end game quality, completeness, and resulting user experience.
    • Uses the games regularly to understand it thoroughly and discover ways to improve it.
    • Resolves issues outside of his or her area of responsibility and opens discussions with peers to take action when needed to ensure the success of the product.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the game's quality in use and takes appropriate action to resolve issues throughout the life of the product line.


  • Communication:
    • Provide and maintain quality reporting to the customer and executive leadership across all components of a project.
    • Effectively communicate in a variety of formal and informal settings and formats: one-on-one, small and large groups, as well as in email and game-related documentation.
    • Build working relationships with customers and coordinate with them to deliver high quality results.
    • Be available and prepared for any internal or external product discussions or presentations organized by Management or the team.
    • Consistently sets the bar for responsiveness to requests from internal teams.




    Knowledge/Skills:
    • Able to coordinate required specialty responsibilities between QA teams, while directly managing a team of Managers and Leads, providing consistent motivational and directional leadership.
    • Able to coordinate individual/team overall responsibilities and goals, while supporting a very collaborative, open and supportive work environment.
    • Able to lead the coordination of and planning decisions for groups within overall testing strategy.
    • Test management and administration skills.
    • Ability to manage tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete disparate projects on schedule.
    • Proficient in Testing and/or Quality Assurance Best Practices.
    • Able to build effective working relationships and leverage them as appropriate for getting things done.
    • Able to negotiate product requirements and priorities with other discipline stakeholders.
    • Able to coach QA Managers, Leads, and Testers with advice in their test focus; to lead troubleshooting efforts and find resolutions; as well as to estimate required time/effort for their related work areas.
    • Able to effectively communicate in a variety of formal and informal settings and formats: one-on-one, small and large groups, as well as in email and product related documentation.
    • Able to demonstrate a strong level of initiative, autonomy and self-sufficiency.
    • Able to successfully work under pressure in an organized fashion.
    • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, both internally when working with fellow employees, as well as externally when representing the company in a public forum.
    • Prepared to be flexible in working practices within reasonable company requirements.
