JOB DESCRIPTION - REVISER, LINGUISTIC SERVICES (FRENCH TO CANADIAN ENGLISH)

The Reviser, Linguistic Services, revises a variety of texts translated from French to English Canadian. The incumbent is mainly responsible for correcting all errors and ensuring that the client's specific requirements are met. The incumbent also conducts quality control for the final product, evaluates internal and external translators' work and works closely with translators and project managers. Generally speaking, the incumbent must fully understand internal linguistic processes and meet client expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Revise texts translated from French to Canadian English
• Evaluate internal and external translators' work, explain his or her corrections and provide feedback
• Help update linguistic references ( glossary, style guide, terminology)
• Provide a professional opinion, as needed
• Translate urgent or high-profile texts into Canadian English

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALITIES

• Bachelor's degree in translation from a recognized university or the equivalent
• Three to five years' relevant experience translating texts and revising texts translated from French to Canadian English
• Ability to revise a minimum of 800 words/hour
• Good terminological research methodology
• Excellent knowledge of translation and computer tools
• Good learning skills
• Attention to detail and quality
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and to maintain a positive rapport with coworkers, clients and freelancers
• Certification from a professional association (ATIO, OTTIAQ or CTTIC) an asset
• Reliability status or Secret clearance from Public Works and Government Services Canada an asset
